Bamboo fabrics

We were first introduced to bamboo fabrics when we started using Modern Cloth Nappies on our children. The highly absorbant qualities of bamboo make it a favourite amongst nappy-makers. What stood out to us however was the amazingly soft feel of the fabric. We often would have to fight our son to retrieve bamboo boosters that he would retrieve out of the clean washing to use as a snuggly sooky-rug! It seemed such a waste for this fabric only be used on the boys' bottoms! Further research opened us to a world of bamboo fabric options, and the ideas for how we could use them started to flow.

Bamboo fabrics are not only luxuriously soft. They possess a host of wonderful benefits including:

  • Sustainability: Bamboo is a highly sustainable product, making it an ecologically friendly choice for our fabrics;
  • Hypoallergenic: Fabrics made from bamboo retain natural antibacterial and antifungal properties even after processing, meaning they won't harbour germs. This makes bamboo fabrics a great choice for using on sensitive or even excema-prone skin.
  • Thermal regulating: Fabrics made from bamboo are highly breathable, allowing for the user to maintain a comfortable body temperature, even in warmer weather
  • Machine washable: Items made from bamboo fabrics are able to be machine washed, making them practical for everyday use.
